Biggs is a far-right
Republican extremist member of
the U.S. House, representing Arizona's 5th
Congressional District. He assumed office on January
3, 2017. His current term ends on January 3, 2025. In September 2019, he was selected
to serve as chairman of the House Freedom Caucus.
Biggs was first elected to the office in 2016 after
winning the Republican primary against Christine
Jones by 27 votes. Biggs served in the Arizona State
Senate, representing District 12 from 2011 to 2017.
He was president of the Senate from 2013 to 2017 and
majority leader from 2011 to 2012. He also served in
the Arizona House of Representatives, representing
District 22 from 2003 to 2011. Prior to public
service, Biggs worked as an attorney with a license
to practice in Arizona, Washington, and New Mexico.
He won a $10 million American Family Publishers
sweepstakes in 1993.Since the November election,
Rep. Biggs has been one of the prominent proponents
of Trump’s lie that the election was stolen. He
appeared on Fox News on December 22 to praise
Trump’s efforts to undermine the election:
“President Trump, he’s a fighter, he knows that the
country is at stake, he like so many of us believes
that the election was stolen and he wants to fight
through it. There are literally 70 million people
plus who think this was a stolen election.” Rep.
Biggs then went on to object to the counting of
Electoral College votes from Arizona and
Pennsylvania. His lies undoubtedly helped fuel the
Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Rep. Biggs did not
vote in support of the bipartisan commission
proposal to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Far right Rep. Andy Biggs
(R-Arizona) issued a press release over the weekend
celebrating the life of a racist former lawmaker who
had been pushed to resign from politics after he
suggested that women should only be granted public
benefits if they were sterilized beforehand. Biggs
appeared on the House floor last week to speak about
the life of former state Sen.
Russell Pearce, whom
Biggs had served with during his own time as a state
lawmaker. Pearce, who sponsored vehemently
anti-immigrant legislation, died earlier this month.
Biggs also praised Pearce in a newsletter (in which
he misspelled his name as “Pierce”) that was sent to
constituents on Friday, describing Pearce’s
political legacy as “truly unmatched.” Biggs’s
statements — both on the House floor and in the
newsletter — referred to Pearce as tough and
courageous, touting his public service in politics
and in the military while praising his fascist and
racist legacy.
Rep. Andy Biggs was among four
Republican members of Congress referred Monday to
the House Ethics Committee for failing to comply
with a subpoena from the panel that investigated the
riot at the U.S. Capitol. The move means that Biggs,
R-Ariz., could face investigation by the bipartisan
ethics committee and comes as he has thrown into
disarray the battle for the House speakership with
another member referred to the ethics committee
[...] Before issuing the subpoena, the panel
asked Biggs in a letter that was shared publicly to
meet with it about a Dec. 21, 2020, meeting at the
White House that involved Trump's chief of staff,
Mark Meadows. The panel wants to discuss what Biggs
knew about the "Stop the Steal" effort organized by
Ali Alexander, who credited Biggs as instrumental in
pulling it together. The panel wants to know about
Biggs' effort to persuade state lawmakers the
election was stolen and enlist their help in
preventing President Joe Biden's victory from being
certified. The committee has said Biggs was
identified as among a group of Republicans seeking
pardons after the attack by the pro-Trump mob and
wants to know why such pardons were sought. The
committee noted that Biggs participated in an effort
determined by a federal judge that more likely than
not involved a criminal effort by Trump to obstruct
Congress from certifying Biden's victory.
On Nov. 6, as
the votes were still
being counted,
Meadows wrote Biggs
looking for any
reason to be
optimistic. “Any
hope for Az,”
Meadows asked. “I’ve
been trying to get
hold of our legal
and party teams in
Arizona,” Biggs
replied, before
scratching off his
calculations of how
much of the
outstanding vote
Trump had to win to
come back. “So still
doable,” he
concluded. But
things were bleak
for Trump and his
allies. The
Associated Press
made its call
several hours after
Fox and the other
major broadcast
networks caught up
in the next few
days. By Friday,
when Meadows was
looking for a silver
lining in Arizona,
NBC, ABC and CBS had
all projected Biden
as the state’s
victor. Less than
eight hours after he
indicated an Arizona
victory was still
“doable” for
Trump,
Biggs had begun
cooking up a plot to
challenge the
results in the
state. Through the
typos, Biggs seemed
to be floating a
variation of the
fake electors
scheme, a gambit
where Trump allies
would put their
names to an
alternate slate of
electors that could
be approved by
Republican lawmakers
in states Biden won.
Versions of the plot
became popular among
members of the Trump
camp as legal
avenues to overturn
the 2020 election
dwindled, and the
idea that Trump
electors could be
swapped in for Biden
electors was key to
Trump allies’
growing interest in
the day when
electoral votes
would be counted and
certified, Jan. 6.
The fake electors
schemes have led to
multiple
investigations. On
Nov. 6, Meadows was
succinct in
response: “I love
it,” he wrote. While
the two continued to
track the numbers
and tried to
calculate the
outstanding vote
share in the state,
it was clear that
the door was
closing. Even as
they seemed to
acknowledge the real
results, the pair
took a turn toward
the tin foil-hatted
and set aside the
vote counts in favor
of increasingly
bizarre conspiracy
theories that could
help Trump clinch
Arizona anyway.
Biggs’ initial text
with the “highly
controversial” idea
was previously
published by CNN.
However, it is just
one of several
messages where Biggs
proposed last-ditch,
conspiracy-theory-fueled
schemes to wrench
back the state. Most
of those messages
are being reported
here for the first
time.
Biggs, who entered
politics after he
won a $10,000,000
magazine sweepstakes
in 1993, is good at
spewing Freedom
Caucus nonsense, and
he was a central
player in the Stop
the Steal movement,
even helping to plan
Jan. 6, according to
Ali Alexander. But
when it comes to
designing policy
that serves people, bupkis. So here’s
this week’s cup of
Biggs’ ugliness:
"Rep. Andy Biggs
(R-AZ): “[Speaker
Nancy Pelosi] is
losing the gavel but
finding the hammer.
Too soon? Is that
too soon?""
Republicans have
big plans for next
year if and when
they take back the
House of
Representatives. We
regret to inform
you, however, that
those plans are
really, really
fucking stupid. For
instance, there is
Arizona GOP Rep.
Andy Biggs. For
those of you
familiar with the
Biggs oeuvre, we
could stop right
there. You name an
issue, this cretin
has been on the
wrong side of it.
From his vote as a
state legislator
opposing a ban on
teenagers texting
while driving, to
his vote against the
second COVID relief
package because it
"redefined family"
by extending sick
leave to domestic
partners, to his
current opposition
to military aid for
Ukraine, Biggs is
fully committed to
being wrong about
every single thing.
So it should come as
no surprise that
he's all in on the
Big Lie, huddling up
with Mark Meadows
and the rest of the
treason weasels at
the White House

The panel's subpoena of Biggs

reported efforts to receive a presidential pardon in
the aftermath of Jan. 6.
A House Oversight committee
on Wednesday heard from an 11-year-old child who
recounted the horror of playing dead inside her
classroom two weeks ago while a gunman killed 19 of
her classmates and two teachers. Rep. Andy Biggs
couldn’t bring himself to show up. “A child of
tender years, brought before this Committee to
relive the horror of the Uvalde murders is
tantamount to child abuse and will no doubt add to
the post-traumatic stress of the child going
forward,” he , explaining that he would instead
watch her testimony from his office. Biggs, you see,
is all about protecting children. He’s just not
willing to consider so much as a single reform to
the nation’s gun laws to do it. By day's end, he
voted against a bill that would have barred teens
from buying assault-style weapons like the one used
to eviscerate 11-year-old Miah Cerrillo's classmates
and teachers.
Rep. Andy Biggs is important
because this could tie in the link between certain
members of Congress who were working in alignment
with the extremists that day the Capitol was
attacked.
Republican Rep. Andy Biggs
makes a lousy victim. I mean, he’s trying. He’s
really, really trying to portray himself as a
martyr, a fall guy, a scapegoat, a sacrificial lamb.
But peeking out from beneath the wooly blanket of
indignation Biggs is hiding under is a partisan
wolf’s clothing.
Fat chance that Arizona
Republican Rep. Andy Biggs will voluntarily spill
the beans over his involvement in the U.S. Capitol
insurrection to keep Donald Trump in the White
House. On Monday, the congressional panel
investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots asked Biggs,
and Reps. Mo Brooks and Ronny Jackson to testify.
new texts were turned over by

events of January 6, 2021, when rioters breached the
U.S. Capitol as lawmakers were voting to certify the
2020 presidential election and declare Joe Biden the
next president. [...] Other names included Arizona
Congressman Andy Biggs, who represents much of the
East Valley, and Arizona Republican Party chair
Kelli Ward. Both have played high-profile roles
in disseminating election fraud conspiracies over
the last two years — Biggs from Washington and Ward
from Lake Havasu City.
The House of Representatives
passed a bill designed to provide more military
assistance to Ukraine amid the Russian invasion with
overwhelming bipartisan support on Thursday.
Lawmakers approved the Ukraine Democracy Defense
Lend-Lease Act of 2022 by a vote of 417 to 10, with
all votes against the bill's passage coming from
Republicans.
The motion, called the
Ukraine Invasion War Crimes Deterrence and
Accountability Act, has the goal to "collect,
analyze, and preserve evidence and information
related to war crimes and any other atrocities"
committed by Russian armed forces in Ukraine. The
bill passed in the House of Representatives on
Wednesday, with 418 voting in favor and only the
seven Republicans voting against.
Controversial, embattled
Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz is going native. The
third-term U.S. congressman touched down in Phoenix

about the dangers of illegal immigration. Gaetz

“obstructionists” who oversee elections at
the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office and
in Maricopa County. Borrelli said that many
of his peers in the Arizona House and Senate
were behind him and other election deniers
and that they were going to “tighten up the
loopholes that these commie (expletive) have

claimed that the “shamestream media” were

there were any widespread problems with the

Biggs called the message "sick."
