Republican Andrew Gould
was a judge of the Arizona Supreme Court. He
assumed office on November 28, 2016. He left
office on April 1, 2021. Gould ran for
election for Attorney General of Arizona. He
lost in the Republican primary on August 2,
2022. Gould was appointed to this court by
Republican Governor
Doug Ducey on November 28, 2016. His
appointment filled one of two vacancies
created when a 2016 law expanded the state
supreme court from five justices to seven.
Gould was previously a judge on the Arizona
Court of Appeals, Division One. He was
appointed to the court by former Republican
Governor
Jan Brewer in October 2011 to succeed
Sheldon Weisberg. Gould was previously one
of seven nominees for Governor Doug Ducey's
first appointment to the Arizona Supreme
Court. The governor's eventual appointee,
Clint Bolick, succeeded Justice Rebecca
White Berch, who retired in September 2015. |
