Arizona Republicans
Demand GOP Candidate
Withdraw Over
Military Claims |
"The Navajo County
Republican Committee
asked Steve
Slaton, who is
running to represent
Legislative District
7, to end his
campaign for
falsely claiming
that he was a
Vietnam War veteran
and that he had been
awarded multiple
military medals.
A veterans group
said Slaton trained
as a helicopter
repairman, not as a
helicopter pilot,
and he was stationed
in Korea in 1974.
Slaton also did not
join the U.S. Army
until June 1973 —
three months after
the final U.S.
troops pulled out of
Vietnam, the Arizona
Republic reported.
The Navajo County
Republican Committee
said he altered
military discharge
papers to falsely
claim combat veteran
status and showed
"qualifications and
awards which you
have not earned."
Slaton denied the
accusations as a
"left wing smear
campaign."" |

Citing Lack Of
Evidence, Judge
Finds In Favor Of
Slaton |
Slaton said he
intends to continue his pursuit of the LD-7
seat. “My dream is to get rid of the
Republicans-in-name-only, which are a bigger
problem than the Democrats. I have got to
help
Wendy Rogers and keep fighting the good
fight on how the election got stolen in 2020
and 2022. We need to get good legislation
while stopping the bad legislation and
protecting
our
rights that are being stripped away by the
federal government. We also need to stop
this nonsense with windmills and solar, it
is a big scam. We need to keep our coal and
nuclear energy. Businesses need energy to
come up here. Energy made in Arizona should
stay in Arizona.” |
